As part of my Suite Series, this piece combines woodturning, metal spinning, miniature painting, and jewelry-making. Shahmaran is a mythic figure from Turkey who sacrificed her life for her love (her traditional representation is laser etched on the underside of the base plate). Related to “out of the woods,” this piece encourages caution as a balance to impulsive passions. The lathe-turned Thurmanite® is made from Casanova’s Memoirs to further reinforce the themes of love, passion, and balance. The wearing of the earrings can serve as an intimate reminder of these lessons and advice.
